Users & Segments
Your subscribers, grouped and tracked so you can target the right message to the right people.
Users#
An app's Users page lists every individual subscriber registered against it — one row per person, built from whatever identity and tags your app sends via SDK initialize() or the API. Open a user to see their profile fields, tags, and subscription devices.
Subscriptions#
A subscription is a single reachable channel for a user — a push token on one device, or a WhatsApp number. One user can have several subscriptions (a phone and a tablet, say). The Subscriptions view tracks status (active, unsubscribed, token expired) per device so you know who's actually reachable before you send.
Segments#
A segment is a dynamic group of users defined by attributes or tags — "premium users in Mumbai", "users who haven't opened the app in 14 days". Segments update automatically as users' data changes, and are used to target campaigns and sends instead of blasting your entire audience.
Tags — how targeting actually works#
Tags are the key-value pairs you attach to a user (via SDK initialize() or updateTags(), or the API) — premium: 'true', city: 'Jaipur'. Segments are built by filtering on these tags, so the quality of your targeting is only as good as the tags you send from the app.
