assetlinks.json & apple-app-site-association Generator

Generate the two files that let your links open your app: assetlinks.json for Android App Links and apple-app-site-association for iOS Universal Links.

Android: App Links

Using Play App Signing? Add the app signing key fingerprint from Play Console → Setup → App signing, and your upload or debug key if you test with local builds.

iOS: Universal Links

Enter a package name and fingerprint to generate assetlinks.json.

Enter your Team ID, bundle ID and paths to generate apple-app-site-association.

After you upload the files

  1. Android: add an intent filter with android:autoVerify="true" for your domain in AndroidManifest.xml.
  2. iOS: add applinks:yourdomain.com under Associated Domains in Xcode's Signing & Capabilities.
  3. Reinstall the app. Both platforms check the files when the app is installed or updated.

Need links that survive the install?

App Links and Universal Links only work when the app is already installed. To send new users to the right screen after they install, you need deferred deep linking. notifySphere TrackerLink handles it, along with install attribution.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I host assetlinks.json and apple-app-site-association?

Both go in the /.well-known/ folder at the root of your domain, for example https://example.com/.well-known/assetlinks.json. They must be served over HTTPS with a 200 status, without redirects, and with the application/json content type. The Apple file has no .json extension.

Where do I find my SHA-256 certificate fingerprint?

If you use Play App Signing, copy the SHA-256 fingerprint of the app signing key from Play Console → Setup → App signing. For a local or debug build, run keytool -list -v -keystore your.keystore and copy the SHA256 line.

Where do I find my Apple Team ID?

It's the 10-character ID shown in your Apple Developer account under Membership details. The app ID in the file is your Team ID, a dot, and your bundle ID.

Why aren't my links opening the app?

The most common causes are a wrong fingerprint (for example the upload key instead of the app signing key), the file being served through a redirect, a missing Associated Domains entitlement (applinks:example.com) in the iOS app, or a missing autoVerify intent filter in the Android manifest.
