Compress images without uploading them
Most online compressors upload your photo to their server. This one doesn't. Your images are compressed right here in your browser, so you can safely shrink ID cards, documents and personal photos.
How it works
- Pick an output format and how small you need the file: a quality level, or a size like under 100 KB.
- Drop in one or more images. They're compressed instantly on your device.
- Download the smaller files. Close the tab and they're gone. Nothing is stored anywhere.
Why private compression matters
Uploading a passport scan or a family photo to a random website means trusting it to delete the file. With in-browser compression there's nothing to trust: the image is never sent. It's also faster, because there's no upload or download wait.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The images are compressed by your own browser using its built-in canvas engine. They are never sent to our servers or anyone else's. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.
Is it safe to compress Aadhaar, PAN or passport photos here?
Yes, because the files never leave your device. That's the main difference from most online compressors, which upload your image to their server to process it.
How do I compress an image to under 100 KB or 200 KB?
Choose “Under 100 KB” or “Under 200 KB” in the Compress to menu, then add your image. The tool lowers the quality step by step, and reduces the dimensions only if needed, until the file fits the size limit that forms and job portals ask for.
Which format should I choose?
Choose JPG when you're uploading to a form, portal or email, because it's accepted everywhere. Choose WebP for websites: it's usually smaller at the same quality and keeps transparent backgrounds.
Why did my PNG get a white background?
JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. If you need to keep the transparent background, choose WebP as the output format.
Is there a limit on the number or size of images?
There's no limit set by us. Very large photos, such as 50+ megapixel camera images, may take a few seconds because your own device does the work.
